Learning Theories Week 2 T2P update

If a teacher employs a wide variety of learning activities throughout the daily lesson, then all the students in the class will have a better chance of learning and assimilating the information from the day into their own experience because all people have different strengths and weaknesses in their learning styles.  Just because the teacher prefers to teach in one particular style does not mean that that style will help all of the students to grasp the material.  Even if the teacher is a fabulous lecturer with over-the-top preparation for every class he should mix up his rhythm periodically throughout the day so that all of his students get a chance to grasp the content in a way that makes sense to them.

  1. Rich,

You wrote: "students get a chance to grasp the content in a way that makes sense to them."

Can you define "grasp" in this sentence? Do you imagine the teacher hurling information into the air and students reaching out to grasp it?

If not, what *do* you mean?

  2. I guess "understand" would be a better word for the occasion.
